Terilee Dawn

It is hard to think of a way to describe myself so that you can get to know me better. I love having a blog because it is a place for me to show my most current work and at the same time post random things about my life. I have a deep passion for life and it is my goal to live it to the fullest. That may sound kind of cliche but it is so true. I love adventures, and people, and photography is an avenue for me to experience both in a fun artist way. Photography is an outpour of what I see and how I view life. It allows me to capture those sweet moments in life in a way that when I look back at the images I can remember how it felt to experience that moment. That is why I love my job, I get to capture pure moments for people that they will always get to take with them. I hope you will stay a while and look through my blog and get inspired.

Billy & Trina – Engagement

After taking a two month break from shooting Billy and Trina were the perfect couple to start back up with. They were up for anything and sooooo easy to take pictures of. These two are awesome people and had me laughing and joking most of the time.  When I asked Billy what he did for a living his reply was ” I’m just a kicker” I will let you interpret that how ever you like :) They were troopers and went all over the place to get the photos that I wanted for them. I can’t wait for you wedding in less then a month. Enjoy!

This first image is my favorite of the day. Just love it!

I am thinking of incorporating the word ‘LOVE’ into every shoot I do. What do you think? Wouldn’t that be fun to see it is so many different forms? Poor Billy had the hardest time forming these letters. I have never seen someone with such stiff fingers, haha it was pretty funny to watch him.

The location in these next series of photos is a location I have been wanting to shoot at for over a year. I remember last spring seeing it and thinking it would be spectacular to shoot at. I am so glad we were able to when we did. Literally the next day they had a bunch of goats there eating all the pretty yellow weeds that made these pictures oh so pretty. Even though we had to walk past the sewage treatment plant to get there it was worth it.

This next photo Ryan caught. It is different then I normally shoot and I like it.

These last ones are because we could so we did.

Terilee’s Tuesday – “Oh Canada…”

Even though everyone knows that I am Canadian I decided to talk about it in light of the Olympics and my winter wonderland weekend. All I can say is “I love you Canada!!! ” People kept asking me who I would be cheering for for the Gold in mens hockey.  Even though I have lived here for almost 5 years I still feel very much Canadian. I actually wasn’t home to watch the game, I had been up at the mountains with our youth group so on the ride home we kept getting text updates on the game. Lets just say I enjoyed a little victory dance in a car full of Americans. Everyone was a good sport and let me enjoy the moment. Between the Olympics and the snow I got to see this weekend, I had some sweet memories of where I grew up. I personally love the snow. It is amazingly beautiful when there is a fresh fall of snow and I loooooooooooove snowboarding. We woke up on Saturday morning to a fresh layer of snow and I got so excited. We went sledding, had snowball fights, and I got to bundle up all nice and cozy in my winter clothes. It snowed all weekend big fluffy flakes of snow, and then I came home and wore flip flops to work today, haha that is what I love about California you can get it all within a few hours of driving. So this Tuesday I have fond memories of where I grew up and playing in the snow. Good times.

Terilee’s Tuesday – Pursuit of Happiness

Today is one of those days that I just don’t have much to talk about. Sometimes those days are nice. It gives my brain a rest from thinking so much :) Sometimes I think way to much and spend to much time mulling over things that I can’t change. So on that note I am just going to share the cutest little video with you. This girl, Soko, is just about as cute as it gets. Enjoy!

Billy & Trina’s Sneak Peak

Ryan and I had a great time taking Billy & Trina’s pictures today. They were so fun and relaxed and so easy to take pictures of. I can’t wait till your wedding in a month and am totally jealous that you are going to Fiji for your honeymoon :)

Terilee’s Tuesday on Thursday – Lent

So three weeks in and I forget to post already, opps :) but I think I have a valid excuse. My sister and my niece were in town visiting and the last thing I was thinking about was my computer or my blog. The weather was amazing, the company was great and I was on vacation right where I lived and loved it. I never make it to the beach out here except for when people from the cold land of Canada come to visit. And since the weather was amazingling warm we spent most of our times outdoors, it was heaven.

Now that I have produced my excuse for not posting on Tuesday lets get onto the subject of Lent. Yesterday was ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. This means it is time to give up something in my life that is taking me away from some of the more important parts of my life. I am embarassed to admit this but lately I have turned into a tv junky. I justified it with the fact that I was working while watching but then it turned into watching without a lot of working which is never a good thing. This morning as I was thinking about what I wanted to give up for lent I decided that it was going to have to be TV. I really don’t want to because I love watching all the stupid reality TV shows while I work but it has gotten a bit out of hand. And really I can handle a month right? Now I am not giving up movies because I love cuddleing up on the couch with Ryan on a friday night and watching movies. But TV is out. Yesterday instead of spending time with Ryan or getting work done I ended up being unproductive and watched tv all evening. As a result I got nothing done, stayed up to late, and have been grumpy all day because I am tired, meaning I won’t be as productive with things I need to get done tonight. So no more TV. This will be tough if Ryan is sitting down watching TV but I think I can do it. If I want down time I would rather read a good book anyways. So here is to the 40 day challenge, I am excited to see what I do with my time.

And since I must post a picture. Here is one that I took over the weekend of Cynthia and Ava. I am in love with it.

Terilee’s Tuesday – 28

28 that is how old I turned yesterday.  When I look back at 27 and think about what this year is going to bring I am excited. This last year has been a big growing year for me. I have learned a lot about myself and have pushed myself in ways that I didn’t think were possible. The Lord has been faithful to change me and I can’t wait for this year ahead. I hope that every year I change more into the person I am called to be and that I can laugh and enjoy the ride. Yesterday I felt the love from all the people around me. One of the biggest things I am learning about right now in life is what Love looks like and yesterday was a great example. Everyone showed up at our house for tacos and it was just a great reminder of the amazing people I have around me supporting and encouraging me through this phase in my life.

So what do I think 28 will look like?

1. My photography business is going to see some big changes this year and I am excited.

2. Hands project will be done ( more on that when I can talk about it more)

3. I will spend the year learning what Love looks like through the eyes of Jesus. Hopefully transforming my heart in the way the Lord wants it to transform.

4. Ryan will no longer be a student meaning big changes for us. Scary and exciting at the same time.

5. Learning to let go of some of my control and just let things be and see the crazy things that will transform from that.

6. Maybe learning how to cook will be this year. Hmmm… I doubt it :)

Those 6 things are things that are moving from my 27th year into my 28th year. As for the rest well that is the exciting part about life. We really don’t know what the heck is going to happen always making it an adventure. And hey I like adventures I am always up for a new one.

Alright enough of my sentimenal lameness I found some pictures of me from my first years of life that I thought would be kind of fun to share. Don’t laugh I had a big head and not much hair. Enjoy!

Chicken legs that I still have.

These next two pictures are proof that I was suppose to be a photographer. I was obsessed with cameras all the way back in the 80’s. And mom what is up with my hair and that yellow outfit?

I think this is my 7th  birthday. Check out the matching sweaters my sister and I are wearing. The ironic things is that I hate cats. No offense to you cat lovers but I am not a fan.

Us

A while back we did some family photos for some good friends of ours. Ryan and I needed a photo for our Christmas card so I made us dress up a little bit and had Michelle take some photos of us. It ended up being a mini photo session for Ryan and I and I love some of the photos. It was at an old ghost town that was amazing and had an old photo gallery store that I feel in love with. I hope that maybe someday I will get to go back and really capture this place. Enjoy!

Terilee’s Tuesday – Bloglines

Wow I have managed to do this for two weeks now. Woot woot. haha just kidding that isn’t the biggest accomplishment yet. Maybe once I have done this for three months straight we will have a little party of celebration. Oh that will be fun! I like to treat myself to things when I feel like I have accomplished something that was on my list of goals, little rewards are nice for all the hard work :)

So since my Terilee’s Tuesday is fairly new and it would take people reading my blog regularly to keep up with my random life happenings I thought I would talk about something I love that allows me to follow all my favorite blogs without spending hours going to all of them. Let me introduce you to BLOGLINES. I can view all the blogs I want to in about 15 minutes. Instead of having to visit all the different sites you just sign into your bloglines and it lets you know who has updated their blog. You read them all right there and can easily navigate through all the blogs you read. This is wonderful for me since I have a lot of family I don’t live  by and have some favorite blogs I love to check up on regularly. I am kind of obsessed with reading other peoples blogs but this cuts down my internet browsing a lot which allows me to do other more productive things in my life :) Especially for my business this is a great thing. I have a lot of sites that give sound business advice that I want to follow but don’t want to waste to much time on all these blogs. Bloglines allows me to quickly see if those sites have a new post and if they don’t I can just move on with my day.

On a more random note this is my last week of being 27. eck. To some turning 28 sounds very young, to me it sounds a bit scary. I know I am still young  but I am closer to 30 then I am to my young 20’s that seem like just yesterday. 28 sounds so grown up especially when I feel like yesterday I was 18 and just starting the adventures of my life. Sigh. Anyways I am not going to dwell on to that till next week because today I am still just 27.

And because all photo blogs need a photo here is a picture of me with some rock formations that were down by the beach where I live.

Ella Leigh

Ok so Ella is now over 3 months old but I still wanted to post these pictures. I have discovered that I love going to the hospital when my friends have babies and take pictures.  The moments are so true and real. The first few days of a new family are so precious and to be able to capture it just warms my heart. They are the moments when I have the camera to my face with tears of joy in my eyes. I can’t help  but get all teary eyed, it is such a miracle, God is amazing. So even though she is beyond this new born stage  I couldn’t help but blog them. Enjoy!

Tea

Tonight I had great fellowship and tea with some amazing friends who are so encouraging. God is always faithful to give you what you need.

Since it is taking me forever to get through my travel pictures I will post one of my favorites from Hong Kong. Someday I promise there will be a great big post with all of them.
